I Am NOT is Stray Kids' 1st mini album and official debut, released on March 26, 2018 under JYP Entertainment. The group held their debut showcase "Stray Kids Unveil (Op. 01: I Am NOT)" at Jangchung Arena on March 25, 2018. This album marks the beginning of the "I Am" series, which explores themes of identity and self-discovery.
Every single song on this album is SELF-COMPOSED. All 8 tracks were written and produced by the members themselves, with 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han) leading production. This was unprecedented for a debut album and immediately set Stray Kids apart as a "self-producing" idol group.
The title track "District 9" represents Stray Kids' own musical hideout — a place where they break free from stereotypes and standardized frames to build their own unique world. The hybrid genre combines hip-hop, rock, and EDM with frenetic bass, sirens, aggressive raps, and powerful performances. The message? They're NOT going to fit into the existing system.
